Why is it that eBay think they have the right to decide where you can sell things ?

One of my eBay accounts, That has not been used for selling for a while, Has been suspended for breaking eBay rules.

Apparently I sold some goods outside of eBay. Now the goods concerned were not and never have been listed on eBay and the person who bought the goods contacted me through a private email and the sale was a private sale.
 I explained this to eBay but they said that because I had previously traded with that person on eBay I had broken the rules. I explained that it was nearly two years since I traded with the person through eBay and they had contacted me through a private email not eBay, But ebay still maintain that I broken the rules. So I asked if  I sell on eBay does that mean that I am not allowed to run my own website to sell similar goods and if this was the case how do the classified ads work as that is basically what happens with a classified ad. Needless to say I did not get an answer nor did they give me an answer as to how they gained the information.

All they did say was that the matter was being investigated and my account is suspended until further notice. So I told them where to stick their investigation and the account concerned. The account is of no loss to me as it has not been used for selling for over twelve months( although I have used it to buy something recently), and it has absolutely nothing to do with information products or Internet Marketing. I just don’t see how  it is any of their business what I do outside of eBay. I don’t see how i could of  been reported as the account is dormant and ebay just do their usual thing and avoid any direct answers by refering you to the ebay policy pages and nowhere in the pages does it say that if you are an ebay user you are only allowed to sell on ebay, so what the plebs at ebay are saying is that they are the law and if you trade outside of ebay you are not allowed to use ebay. If this is the case then there is a hell of a lot of people about to be suspended.

 Mind you I don’t think i would get the account back anyway after telling the jumped up little amoeba what I thought of him,  But I had already told him to close the account and what he could do with it and his investigation !

 Anyway that’s enough of me ranting on.

Well i have spent the day organizing my office, The decorating can wait – I need to do some work. Anyway whilst pottering around i noticed that the misguided seagull was back and forth from the nest quite a lot so i took a few minutes to watch and it wasn’t long before i found out the reason for all the activity.

 Yup you guessed it there are now two chicks wobbling around on the rooftop which means that Mr & Mrs Seagull now have full-time jobs providing food. Also i have found in the past that it can be entertaining watching the young as they get a bit older and start flapping their wings in futile attempts to fly, But enough of that i have a more serious issue to address.

Just a quick note to let you know that i now have something that resembles an office again. It’s not quite finished yet but things are set-up and working which means i can now start again and try to do a whole heap load of catching up. There was the odd bit that survived and i mean ODD BIT a 3GB usb pen with my RoboForm data on and that was it, If nothing else i can still login to membership sites which will make it a bit easier along the way. Oh and another thing is that i have a pc with absolutely nothing but windows and a few other programs I’ve put back in.

One of my readers suggested moving my office to the pub for the duration of the work. The idea in it’s self is a good one but alas it’s not to be as i can’t get any internet access in my local or any of the others near by so i am just going to have to make the best of a bad situation.

One minute it’s Monday morning and your looking your to-do sheet for the week the next it’s Friday, only half your list is crossed off and what bit of hair you haven’t pulled out is turning grey!  If that wasn’t enough when you return after the weekend away only to find that you have had a water leak which has devastated your office killing everything in it- PCs, Notes literally everything including the external drive used for backing up. The insurance will cover most things, but most of the data that has been lost is irreplaceable and worst of all is my hard work for my latest product has gone.

I’ve built myself a new PC which is why you are reading this and i have a memory stick with all my website login details on so i can access them ok but that’s it – No eBooks, reports or any kind of rights products at all except what is on my web space, So I’m now going to have to  trawl the web to start again. I also have to restart creating my new product but how fast i can catch up is a bit of an unanswerable question as the repair work is due to start in the next few days so the house will be a bit of a mess whilst the work is going on and with workmen in and out and making a whole lot of noise the process, catching up could be slow at best until it’s all finished.

 Thankfully the insurance company have been worth their weight in gold – I rang them first thing yesterday morning, as it was late when i got back Sunday, The assessor was here by teatime and i received a phone call this morning informing me that the work has been authorised and the builder
would be intouch by the end of the day to arrange the repair work. I must admit i was rather shocked that it was all sorted out so quickly as the dealings i have had in the past with insurers took weeks before they decided to do anything. Normally they drag their heels and look for ways to pay out the least amount of money they can but not this time thankfully.

I always tell people to make regular backups but even doing that has not helped me this time.

May be i have unknowingly broken a mirror in the last year or so and that’s why things keep going pear shaped.

I also liked how Michael divided the videos up by
section, and then again by sub-section. For
example, one video is all about the subject line,
and then there are different parts of that video
that each cover a certain area of crafting a
killer subject line.

VIDEO 1 – INTRODUCTION

This video served as an introduction to the whole
course. You get to see a picture of Michael in
his every day life, and he establishes his
credibility right up front by talking about some
of his massive successes online. He even provides
proof of credibility by displaying two checks in
the amount of $50,000 and $25,000 which prove
that, when it comes to the subject of making
money with email promos, he knows his stuff.

This is a good lesson for anyone to get. Whenever
you’re teaching people how to do something, it’s
good to establish your credibility up front, so
that there’s no doubt about whether or not you’re
qualified to talk about the subject. Most product
developers either skip or minimize this step.

VIDEO 2 – BEFORE YOU WRITE THE PROMO

This video talks about some things that no other
marketer has bothered to mention. You’ll learn
things like:

* The mindset you need in order to write a killer
promo

* The different tools you need before you get
started

* How to keep your emails laser-focused

* How to create an outline that practically
writes the email for you.

This was a fantastic video, and did a good job of
kicking things off.

VIDEO 3 – THE SUBJECT LINE

I liked this video, because it talked about one
of MY biggest weaknesses when it comes to writing
email promos… the subject line. The subject
line is a confusing topic, because nobody’s 100%
sure what the best tactics are.

Michael breaks it down, and reveals:

* The biggest secret for writing a subject line
that makes people insanely curious.

* Techniques for personalizing the subject line.

* Mistakes to avoid when using personalization.

I was surprised to find that I was making some of
the mistakes that Michael mentioned in this
video, but now I know better.

VIDEO 4 – THE OPENING

This is where a lot of people slack off when
writing their emails. Michael talks about how
important it is to create an opening that is
conversational, and then reveals techniques and
examples on how to do that.

He also reveals:

* How to get people to keep reading your email
once they’ve opened it.

* How to make your opening interesting.

* Mistakes to avoid when creating your first few
paragraphs.

VIDEO 5 – THE BODY COPY

This is one of the “meatiest” portions of the
course, because it reveals techniques that are
not widely discussed on the forums, blogs, and in
most eBooks. He talks about the importance of
keeping your body copy tight and relevant, and

I loved this video, because it showed me some
mistakes that I was making that I wasn’t even
aware of. Unless you’re a seasoned pro, you’re
probably guilty of some of the things that
Michael talks about in this video as well, and
that’s why it’s so valuable. I’ve shaved years
off my learning curve, because now I can avoid
some of the costly mistakes that I was bound to
make in the learning process.

VIDEO 9 – HOW TO CREATE FOLLOW-UP EMAIL PROMOTIONS

This video alone is going to make me a lot of
money. Why? Because I used to only send out one
email promo for each affiliate promotion I was
doing. Michael showed me in this video how
important it is to send a follow-up promotion,
and he showed me exactly how to do it. He covered
things like:

* The psychology of follow-up email promo’s.

* The 2 main types of follow-up promos that make
the most money.

* How to overcome readers’ objections in your
follow up emails.

* The 2 most common mistakes people make when

one! These videos are going on my “A-list” for a
long time.

tactics burned into my mind.

Today I made a strange observation which got me thinking. Whilst walking along the seafront earlier, as my regular readers know i live by the sea in North Yorkshire, I noticed a small family having a disagreement about an empty cola bottle. Now i can hear you all muttering ‘non of your business’ which is true, but as i walked past them i discovered(which i couldn’t help as they were shouting at each other) that the reason for the argument was that the little girl had thrown her empty cola bottle on the floor, Her mum had told her to pick it up and put it in the bin but the little girls dad was telling her “just drop, were on holiday and it doesn’t matter because these people need jobs anyway”.

Now don’t get me wrong i have nothing against tourists, I’ve been one myself often enough, but i just had to say something. So I turned to the man and excused myself for ‘butting in’ then asked “why those people need jobs more than his daughter needed manners”. The reply i got was to mind my own business and the scroungers that lived here could do it themselves as it wasn’t ‘their’ job because ‘they’ didn’t live here. His wife slapped him and walked off, Then started shouting at the little girl that ‘his’ day was ruined and it was all her fault, Made me feel quite bad actually – it was as though the girl got in to even more trouble because of me.

When i first came to live here i wondered why the locals always grumbled about tourists and day trippers – now I know.

Why is it that when some people go on holiday they leave all sense and morals at home and turn into *&%^ ? Personaly when i go away i treat the place i visit with the same respect as i treat my home.

I stood on the pier for a while looking across the beach at all the people josseling for space, you could hardly see the sand, It was looking at a beach full of seals, all cramed in to one little corner of beach except this was the full beach and ‘they’ were people. The whole thing just added to my opinion that the world not only has gone mad but is going madder by the day.

Well, now that i have recovered from the after effects of birthday celebrations and got everything in order again i realised just how busy I’ve been recently, Trying to juggle my time between many different things it was inevitably that i would forget something (as far as memories go mine is temperamental at the best of times). In fact i forgot a couple of thing one of which was to post to my blog, Sorry readers. The other major thing was that i missed a crucial part of my product development, Well it wasn’t so much of a ‘missed’ as ‘messed up’ it was my own silly mistake and has set me back a bit but better i discovered it now rather than later.
